I don't know if this is a problem at all, so I thought I'd ask.

When I put a disc into the drive it makes some pretty loud clicks and the disc is taken in and finds its place, before it starts spinning. Maybe three or four of them, it sounds like some moving parts like VCR's used to make.

Everything works fine, but because it is quite loud, I wonder if something is wrong.

Do your slot-loading superdrives also have loud click-clack when inserting discs?

(I have only tried CD-R and CD-RW, not DVD).

yup, mine does the same thing, scared me to death the first few times i put a disk in, but no problems so far

I'm just impressed Apple puts audio files such as this on their website to comfort users. Go Apple!:apple:

I've had 15 MBPs and they're all loud. The Hitachi drives are a little better than the LG drives, but I suppose it's a matter of preference which sounds you like. Neither of them are very nice-sounding, but it's normal for them to be noisy.

Those noises are the bay pulling the disc in, and the mechanism raising the disc to the laser. All completely normal.
