My MBP had this issue when disconnecting cord, it still showed as charging.
Shut Down, Reset SMC, reboot, power up. Looks Fine. No cable connected - it showed as such.Connect cable, disconnect cable ....it it still showed as connected and charging.
Genius Bar did the same SMC reset I suppose...but he ended up taking it to the bench, he stated he disconnected the battery ....and when he brought it back, problem solved.
Just short of removing the bottom cover, is there any other means to -discharge ghost voltage- like how the rep at the Genius Bar did to resolve the issue being discussed.
