Unplugged my cMP to move it around and then when I start it back up, RefindPlus gives me this screen:

CBF6FC87-9BD0-4FEE-81C3-A6FA8F805210.jpeg

No selectable options, can’t get past it, won’t boot. I have to do a triple NVRAM reset to get it to boot from my main macOS drive again, and then disable SIP and re-bless the bootloader drive.

This is not the first time. It happens after unplugging it from the wall. Why? How do I prevent this from happening? It’s not like I unplug my Mac all the time, but I kind of do, because thunderstorms do come through and I don’t need it getting cooked by a lightning strike. Yes I have a surge protector but still.

@Dayo any ideas?

Three different things can be/are at play here, but if you only have problems when you unplug your Mac Pro from power, this could be RTC related.

First thing to check is if your RTC battery could be dead or with not enough voltage to work, replace the BR2032C battery whenever it's voltage is lower than 3.0V, a battery with insufficient voltage will make the RTC time counters stuck and your Mac Pro starts to behave crazily. CR2032C is not a replacement, but you can use it if you don't find a BR2032C - the chemistry of the battery will not tolerate the high temperatures below the GPU heatsink and will die soon, but at least works fine for some weeks unless you render frequently.

Second, you could have a full NVRAM VSS store. Dump your BootROM and check it using the instructions below:

Third, unlikely, but you could also have a stuck NAND cell inside you SPI flash memory. This is common with SPI flash memories that are starting to die/around the 100.000 cycles erase/re-write. If it's the case, you will need to replace the SPI flash memory.
