The mac mini blog (which is even more depressed than the mac pro blog) has some posts by people who noticed Amazon identifies the mac pro as being a DISCONTINUED ITEM. Originally, the notice appeared on the amazon page, but now it only appears on the Google list of links (which probably has not been updated) in response to the search "amazon md878ll/a". I put a screen cut of the Google link below. We are wondering if Amazon jumped the gun a bit early in posting the page, and if it means new machines are on the way (looking at the positive side).

I'm cautiously optimistic that the Mac Pro will be updated soon.

1. There are strong rumors that Apple will be releasing a 5K stand-alone monitor in near future. Currently, only the Mac Mini and Mac Pro require external monitors.

2. All the "new" components have been released: next-generation Xeon chips, AMD Polaris GPU, Thunderbolt 3, etc.

3. Tim Cook loves the Mac. :)

He likes Mac..............and cheese.

There was an 'It's over' thread about this but the thread seems to have disappeared or moved. Can anyone shed any light on this or point me to where the thread has gone?

Cheers,

Wow...how curious. I wonder if MacRumors arbitrarily removed the thread, or whether apple asked nicely/legally forced MR to remove the thread. I wonder if this thread will go the same way too?

The "It's Over' thread got merged with the "Could the nMP have been discontinued?" thread.

See Post #88 here:

Already reported! And the status has now been changed.

My guess is Apple is halting Mac Pro shipments, and Amazon automatically changed it to discontinued.

With SKUs that sell slower Apple usually stops shipments a month or two before an update to let the channel clear out the old machines. Same thing happened with the Thunderbolt Display, but they burned through the chanel too quick.
