Discount in store? (UK)

So I slapped down £2k on an i7 today along with Apple remote and battery charger... But in all the excitement I never asked for a discount or any "freebies" so to speak of...

This was all from a Premium Apple Reseller ... Just wondering how others have done on getting anything off ... Specifically in the UK ...!

I've seen some other threads where people have managed to get a Magic mouse and trackpad at no extra cost ... But this was on retail machines and not BTO...

I don't know what it's like in the uk, but in Ireland, the margin on Apple products is crucifixion, there's a reason Apple made $6Bn last quarter. It's very unlikely you'll get a freebie, even if you spent £2k. Although, as we say in Ireland, "A dumb priest never got a parish", so you might as well ask :)
 
So! Finally managed to pick up my iMac .... and after some haggling they gave Apple Care for £100!

I guess not great but not bad either....

No, really... discount seems to be an alien concept to them :)
(Apart from the educational discount they more or less have to give coz everyone does and apple wants to be young'n'fresh in image)
If it would be Judgement day tomorrow they still wouldn't give you discount.

In Austria there is an official reseller where they are so snobbish they take 4000€ right outta your hand with an exceptionally stern, ridgid face. When you tell them you sold all your organs too they would surely answer you "would that be all?".
 
Quite a lot of employers seem to get discounts at Apple. I get a 6% discount via my employment, but I get a better staff discount from my wifes employment so I shop somewhere else!
