I ordered a M2 14" MBP base model from Apple for $1999. And this morning I noticed that Amazon has the same system for $1949. Very strange to see a discount like this before the unit even ships.

The only advantage that I see ordering from Apple is you get it 2 days earlier on Jan 24 instead of Jan 26. Am I missing something else?

When someone posts an image like the one in reply 9 above, you would think they'd also post the source URL so others could find it...?

I found a $1,949 price, but it was for the 2021 model:

Mine just came up at $1949 when I searched on Amazon for MacBook Pro 14. I will point out that I have been an Amazon Prime member since nearly the beginning of the program and spend many thousands with them a year.

I’m also seeing a $50 discount on the 16” M2 MBP, space gray only, as well as a $30 bundle discount once you put it in your cart. I don’t understand what the “bundle“ is, however, since there’s nothing else in the cart.

Along with the 5% Amazon Visa Prime CC discount, that takes the $2,499 MSRP down to $2,298. Not bad for a brand new machine.

If you have a Best Buy credit card, you can take 10% off any M2 with one of their recurring promo codes.

Costco UK have the base for £1999.
I got a base 14 Pro for £1720 from very.co.uk. They have a 20% voucher code that can be used if you open a credit account with them and also if you've never ordered from them before. You don't actually have to use the credit account to get the discount though.

That's actually a very good price - how does it work without using the credit line? Do you have the code please? Edit, just ordered for £1720 and 8% cashback via toipcashback making the total cost £1583 - thank you kindly for the tip, much appreciated!

14-day return period from Apple, no reason needed.

With Amazon, can only be returned if unopened unless it is damaged (at least, according to their policy; although you can take a chance that they will be kinder than their policy).

Not the first time I've heard of them doing stuff like that when their various schemes end up with people making notably loss making orders for them..
Called them and they have now processed it having confirmed a few details. I think it’s more trying to prevent fraud then concerns with the discount.
