Uhh, what about it, other than Dish Network hasn't chosen to make one and therefore it doesn't exist?

There is however, a SlingGuide app that will pretty much do what the DirecTV app does, but you need a "slingloaded" DISH PVR, like the Dish 922.

I'm with you Bob. I'd love a Disk Network App. I hope they develop something in the near future.

I, too, was sick of waiting... so i made a native app of my own that pulls in the Dish web app in a native app environment.

Please note: this is the EXACT same website you get to by going to mobile.dishnetwork.com in the Mobile Safari browser (and it's free). However, this app runs outside of Safari (natively), has its own home screen icon, and it gets rid of the (unneeded) mobile safari interface.

The 99 cent charge is to recoup my time, as well as the $100 Apple developer access fee. If the little added convenience is worth spending 99 cents to you, that's great. If not, I certainly understand.

You can download it from iTunes with this link:

Does anyone else find it funny that there's a DirecTV add at the bottom of this thread. :D

Spoke to my source and was told that Dish Network iphone app will be released Monday.

I don't know what it all entails but I am sure it will take the mobile website and put a nice GUI on top of it.

Looking forward to seeing if your source is in the know. I had just asked Dish on the phone yesterday about an official iPhone app, and I was told that one is not in development, and they are sticking with the iPhone friendly mobile website. I'm hoping your source is the correct one.

:) Told ya guys..

Yes you did, and I for one am very happy you did. The official app runs much smoother and faster then the other app mentioned in this thread. It seems like the same concept, a GUI over the web site, but it's smooth with only slight lag while it connects, and a bit more eye appealing. The option of "Nick naming" your different compatible receivers is nice too. I have 3 compatible, so this makes it easier to name them "Living Room" or "Bed Room".

ALSO, I just want to point out, this does work without having to connect your box to the internet, but if you DO connect the box, it allows you to see and manage your recorded programs. Now, if only this would allow you to watch your Dish programs on the iPhone, I'd be a pretty happy guy while traveling.

I'm sorry I don't. If you wait until the 922 comes that has builtin sling. So hold off on any DVR upgrades.

This app is fantastic! Way better than the mobile site. Thanks again for giving us the heads-up on the release.

So, any hints from your contacts on when the 922 dvr will be released??? My lease is up in September and I will be more than happy to drop $200 on that bad boy and another $30 for the sling app!

if you guys have suggestions or opinions about the app let me know. I'll bring those to the table.

I think more filters would be great. Instead of just choosing "TV Shows" or "Movies", maybe it could drill down another level and let you choose the genre (drama, comedy, news, etc.).

Also, since some channels broadcast in both standard and HD, the option to see all (instead of only standard def OR only HD) would be nice. Or if it could one-up the DVR grid options and only show the HD option for dual-broadcast channels, and still show all the channels that only broadcast in standard def, that would be great. I hate seeing multiple options on my guide for the same channel. I mean, seriously. If something is being broadcast in standard and HD, why in the world would I want to watch the standard broadcast? Even if I'm watching it on my non-HDTV, there's no reason for me to watch the standard version.
