Ok, I have a question about burning DVDs and CDs. On every PC I have ever owned it "tests" the disk then burns it. However, on my Mac it burns then "verifies". What is verifying? Is it a disk check or is it checking bit for bit that all the information made it to the disk properly?

Verifying reads the disc back after burning, to check the data is intact.
It's handy to make sure you don't have dud media.
See, that makes more sence than the PC way of doing it. I dont care if the disk is ok BEFORE I burn it. i want to make sure the data is intact, AFTER I burn it.

I thought the same thing after I switched to a Mac, so do most of my friends that still have to work/use a PC.
Most of the time I don't let it check it, if using Toast that is, but for anything else I always let it check it. I learned the hard way once...once ;)
