Was meaning to post this months ago. Running DP8 currently. I have a second internal hard drive in my 2011 Macbook Pro which I used to run audio samples/sample libraries from. Problem is, I feel like there is a very noticeable lag when accessing the files off of this second hard drive, sometimes I even get beach balls and I have to Force Quit. Is there anyone else out there who is running DP8 and seeing the same kind of behavior when using a second internal hard drive? The second drive is a 500 GB Western Digital Black.

Does it always happen or only if you haven't touched it for a while? Perhaps it is automatically spinning down (some drives do to save power). If so you could look here for a script to keep it running... http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20090316190817357
Hey doynton, I'm using Keep Drive Spinning for this purpose... it's basically the same thing, no?
Hmmm.. that's too bad. I'm suspecting that it might be the caddy itself. Maybe it's 'slow'.

After disabling Spotlight, did the beachballs end?
