Computer: New mid 2010 27" iMac 2.8 GHZ Intel Core i5

I was using Handbrake to make a MPG-4 file from an a 10 yr old DVD on which I had made a video of a trip I had taken.

Handbrake could not complete the job and I had a very hard time ejecting the disk from the drive.

I was finally able to eject it by re-starting my computer while holding down the eject key, a method I found by searching the web.

Everything seems to be OK except, when I re-start my computer, the disk drive hums quite loudly and then shuts down as the computer boots up. This never happened before.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Keysmark

Well, I seem to have fixed my problem.

I took a DVD that I knew was OK, put it in the drive and played it for a few seconds. Then I stopped it, closed out iDVD, & then ejected the disk. It ejected without a problem.

I then re-started my computer and, Voila!, it was fixed.

I would still like to know what had happened.
