Disk Image Loading Issues

When I download applications and software in a .dmg format, when I try to load the disk image, an error comes up saying "operation timed out".

If you press CONTROL and click on the DMG, what does it say it's opening with?

Can you mount it in Disk Utility?

I still get the "operation timed out" message.
