disk image won't copy?

I've tried copying over an :apple:TV OS .dmg file to a new hard drive via terminal using the dd command. However I get this error message:

dd: /dev/disk3: Resource busy

Anyone know how I can make the resource "unbusy"? Thanks!

PS - the new HD is disk3
