The initial installation dialogue comes up:

When I press agree, this dialogue comes up:

If I verify the image using Disk Utility, it checks out fine.

Any thoughts are welcome, please

Cheers David

this is a very old release/disk image of TinkerTool. The current TT release for Sonoma is 9.5, you seem to try to mount TT 3.x. I have no fact-based explanation, but I am not surprised, that a disk image from the time of MacOS 10.4 „Tiger” does not mount on macOS 14 .

Take a look at this thread--

I understand you're dealing with .dmg files and not External Drives, but the underlying issues both seem to be Permissions to utilize them. For me, I'm forced to completely disconnect my External Drives, shut down, boot back up & log in, and THEN reconnect each drive one at a time while entering the Password for each as they come up. I've tried deleting any saved passwords in Keychain Manager, and although I'm able to enter my Passwords successfully that time, they still fail to mount after a reboot again.

I'm wondering if this same logic could be applied to mounting .dmg files as well? You're still able to manually work around the permissions issue, just like we're able to manually mount each drive after login. Just spitballing..

None of those suggestions seemed to work or really apply to my software installation dmg's.
But thanks for the ideas!

So the real issue was that the Breslink Software Updater was unable to install any software, which is a bit of a problem for software updater, and it gave no useful error messages, which is why I was trying to install the individual .dmg's.

Doing a bit more googling, I found this page: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254582832?cmdf=dmg+files+permission, which suggested that to make it work, I needed to give something full disk access.

I added Breslink Software updater and gave it full disk access, and the TinkerTools suite installed cleanly!
Then I gave DiskImageMounter - it's in /System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.app full disk access and individual dmg's then installed.

Not sure why the upgrade from Ventura to Sonoma broke this. :(
