I have a 2012 imac and I was running High Sierra on it. I was going to sell it, so I erased it using the recovery system. Never had a problem before, but this time when I went in to reinstall, it says that the disk is locked. I can't find a way to unlock the disk, all the options in disk utility are greyed out except "first aid" and "partition" - but it won't let me partition either. I am completely at a loss. I already did the Internet Recovery and my computer gets stuck on the apple logo after the internet recovery screen finishes - it was there for 3 hours last night and never moved on from there. Any help appreciated.

Change your view options so you can see the entire disk. It should be familiar to you from there.

Sorry, wish I could say it was familiar but poking around at the view options doesn't change anything. You're referring to view options in the Disk Utility?

Yes, right now you're only seeing the partition that contains the OS X base system, as opposed to the HDD / SSD itself. If you could view that entire disk, you might be able to reformat / erase it from there. The view options on the left should have an option to make the entire container disk visible.

So I can now see this, but when I tried to partition it I got this error. I get this error when I try to partition either the "WDC" or the "OSX"
