I thought i would see what my speeds were for my Crucial P1 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD the first time i tried it read and write were around the quater to nine point,I tried it again the read was the same but the write was well down with lots of x ,s the first time i did it there were only four x ,s i don,t see why there should be any on a new a new drive.:(I went to do my internal drive that was exerlant no x,s and speeds a lot higher.I must say that the external i am using it as my main drive as the internal one is only 256 I just wish there had been a bigger hard drive in there.:(
I have put Bootcamp on there with 60gb which i was hoping to get it on an external drive but it did not work and looked on Winclone forum and other people had the same problem ,And even Tim said it was a touch and go getting it to work on an external drive
How can i get it on an external drive?
iwas thinking Acronis true image will that be able to boot on a Mac?
I looked up to see why Apple SSD,s are faster than others because and found that they use Trim .
My question is it possible to put Trim on an external SSD?
Or can it only be done on internal drives?
I understand Trim is only enabled on Apple SSD,s.
I hope someone gives me some answers as a lot of my posts don,t get any .responce.;)

-AFAIK its not possible to activate TRIM on an external SSD
-Correct, see above
-By default TRIM is enabled only on Apple OEM SSDs.
You can activate it on 3rd party SSDs :

-open terminal
-type: sudo trimforce enable
-it will ask your password and show some irrelevant warning
-confirm

As a side note:
Your post is difficult to read , I'd recommend to describe the issue with short sentences , aiming for an easily understandable overview of the current situation;)
