Ok I just ran the Disk Utilities: Repair permissions, Verify disk permissions and verify disk.

After running verify disk, I was left with this message:
Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Illegal name
Illegal name
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair

Now what am I suppose to do?! What do these 3 diagnostics do anyways. Sorry for sounds such a newbie.

Thanks!

The volume needs repaired. You need to restart from another disk (an OSX installer CD will work too) and repair the volume using Disk Utility...

Thanks. So I just stick in the osx disk, restart, and it'll come up automatically?
Not exactly. Stick in the disk. Restart the computer while holding down the "C" key. Once the disk boots, you should see "disk utility" in one of the menus on the top file bar. Repair permissions from there.

No, it does not happen too often. But, I've heard that it is very good for your system when you Repair permissions from the non-boot drive. I don't do it that way (too much of a hassle).
