Why??????????????????
I would recommend making a new thread. However, iPods don't support SMART status. That is normal. I would try restoring it in itunes.
As u know my problem , can u please help me out and tell me what to do now? i need to get back to transferring files onto my ipod from that computer. But the ipod icon does not appear at the desktop anymore. Instead the computer leaves me a message "the disk is not readable,[and then i have to choose from these:] 1)Validify.. 2)Ignore 3)Eject. The thing is "restoring the ipod on itunes" wont be possible because I will need a later version of itunes for that and the computer is such that the admin. has disallowed us members from installing/updating a prevalent software. at the same time, the other computer is working just fine with my ipod and I cross-checked, u were right S.M.A.R.T STATUS=NOT SUPPORTED EITHER WHICH WAY, but the hang up is that I need this one not the other computer for certain detailed reasons...
The computer on which the ipod worked just fine had the foll. info. on disk utility:
Name : Apple iPod Media
Type : Disk
Disk Identifier : disk1
Media Name : Apple iPod Media
Media Type : iPod
Connection Bus : USB
Connection Type : External
USB Serial Number : 000A27001550E9C9
Partition Type : FDisk_partition_scheme
Writable : Yes
Ejectable : Yes
Mac OS 9 Drivers Installed : No
Location : External
Total Capacity : 74.3 GB (79,824,777,216 Bytes)
S.M.A.R.T. Status : Not Supported
Disk Number : 1
Partition Number : 0
I think the one in which it is not working, the partition type is nil. I'll check again tomorrow but if u can figure out what it is thats blocked the comp. from recognizing/reading the disk it would be GREAT! thanks again..
