I'm trying to install window 10 using "BootCamp". The attempt has a Partition error. It appears to try and partition against
"disk1s1" which is the "MainDrive Data". How can I have the process look at the MaindDrive for installation.

Thanks Charles

The 2 "Maindrive" partitions are normal for Catalina.
You should be doing your partitioning in the Boot Camp Assistant. Does that give an error?

Yes. At the end of running Bootcamp it shows the error that the selected drive could not be partition. Which is "disk1s1".

Yes. The only thing I can see is that install is looking for a "Container" to partition.
If so how would you accomplish this and how shouled it be formated.

Sometimes BootCamp has failed to partition if the drive is too full or if there's some other issue with the disk. It might be necessary to back the whole thing up and reformat.

Charles, I had this and similar problems when I purchased my 2017 MBP. Long story short- got sent to the highest levels of Tech Support and spent ~2 weeks of on-again/off-again trouble shooting. Reformated...reinstalled etc. etc. etc... NEVER figured out what the problem was....hope you do better BUT if not: follow my lead and Buy an external SSD for Windows/Bootcamp drive. Did this and have had no problems since. Good luck.

I'm not entirely sure it will help with the bootcamp installer, but in Disk Utility make sure that you have "Show All Disks" turned on. Find the drop down at the top right of the window. That should allow you to see the container and all disks within it.

Windows would NOT be able to install to any container. I think there are boot camp drivers that will let you access the volumes within a container, which would have a volume (or several volumes) that will be formatted APFS. But, the Windows installer can't do anything with an APFS partition. It would have to be a separate, non-APFS partition. That's what the Boot Camp assistant is supposed to do for you. And, as you can read above, sometimes that Boot Camp assistant is no help at all.

Baudlink post above is also not quite accurate. The "Show All Devices" is from the "View" icon in the top left corner of the DU window, and the screenshot posted there does not have that View option selected.

Hi,
I had windows 10 installed using Parallels. I cancelled Parallels thinking to save "Money" and I would start using Office for Mac.
However the new version of OS stopped supporting Office. After a period of time (after I turned "77") I thought I would go back and start programming Excel to help with my memory. Hence trying to use boot camp to install Windows.
But, even with your help and suggestion I was not able to accomplish this and now considering getting a new version of "Excel" that the new OS supports.
I want to thank each of you for your Help.

Thank you.
Charles

Xlbycharles,
Like you I went through my career on Excel. I've recently started using the Numbers app (free Mac iWork software) and , depending on what you're trying to accomplish, it may be a viable alternative . You have nothing (except Time ) to lose and the book/manual is also free on the Apple Books store.

Hi, Do you need an older copy of IWork and then have it upgraded to the newer version?
I keep getting message about "Keynote".

Not sure what you're asking...my components (Keynote/Numbers/iWord) have just 'always' updated. Heres a link I use for help : https://support.apple.com/numbers. Would assume they have the same for the other components.
Also, MacMost has some good videos : https://macmost.com
