My employer bought me a new iMac11,2 (21") for work. I'm backing up the OS X Install and Applications Install DVDs to "cdr" master images using Disk Utility. Being a newb to Disk Utility I'm finding that it's taking a longer-than-expected time to create the images -- about 45 minutes for the OS X DVD (~ 7GB) and a little less for the Applications DVD (~ 4GB).

Is Disk Utility normally this slow at this particular task? I'm not using any encryption for the images.

Thanks.
