When I bought my T-Mobile 16GB iPhone 5 some four (4) years ago it came with iOS version 6.x if I remember correctly. I bought DiskAid in order to extract the voice messages, text messages, notes, call history and pictures. Shortly after upgrading the iPhone to iOS 8.x in order to use an app for a major airline I realized I would be forced to buy the app again, which was now called iMazing.

Now here it is early 2017 and after testing iOS 10 on my work iPhone 5 I figured that I could do the same on my personal iPhone 5 but then here we go again. I would be forced to buy DiskAid (ahem, iMazing) a third time in four (4) years. It is one thing to buy, say, a replacement iPhone (say, SE for $400), but it is an entirely different thing to spend $150 on a UTILITY for an iPhone during that phone's lifetime.

So, I see other offerings out there now and they all look like the same dang app and they charge pretty much the same damn thing or more. This is unfortunate, because I would rather no upgrade the iOS and not but a replacement Apple phone just to have to deal with the costs of the UTILITY. As such, I was wondering if anyone knew of a FREE app that can be used for extracting voice messages, text messages, notes, call and history from backups.

I just do not care to support DigiDNA anymore and I have this feeling that they are behind the strikingly similar alternatives out there. If not, then maybe I just need to jailbreak this phone and be done with buying into a newer iOS or newer phone product.
