Hello...i am most definitely a newbie and an oldie....50yr old dad that just obtained my children's 2009 imac os lion 10.7.5 (a dinosaur as they say ;-))....and it is mymy first venture into Apple computing. Long story short....original Seagate HD failed....new nvidia installed...used a voyager s3 drive dock to perform diskdrill deep scan. a snapshot of the deep scan folder is attached. i am trying to view all of the folders contents and hopefully recover all of the seagates pertinent information. what is the next step??

DiskDrill recovery folder on my desktop...can someone advise next step?

Did it do an actual "recovery" -- or has it just done "a scan" at this point?
The scan just "does what it says" -- it scans the problem drive and builds a list of files and file scraps that are recoverable. But a scan isn't "recovery".
The recovery actually "goes in and gets the pieces", and then re-assembles them into actual files.
SOMETHING TO BE AWARE OF:
With data recovery, you often loose the previous folder hierarchies and file names. This means -- a LOT of "rebuilding" by hand. I had a disk partition die on me with many hundreds of mp3 files. I did a recovery, but it took me years of "piecing it all back together" to get the music back (I did it a little at a time).
Having said that...
You open the folder called "full deep scan" (you've already done that).
Next, you go into EACH FOLDER "downward in the hierarchy", such as "archives", and see what's in there.
And then repeat with "Audio", etc., etc.
And you relocate, re-arrange, copy over this stuff as needed.

ok, so next i will try and get the original "externally docked" seagate to boot using what i believe to be the original boot file. In reference to the folders/files contained within "Full Deep Scan"....have they been so scattered then reassembled that the OS is not going to recognize them??
In other words....will OS Lion work to reallocate, re-arrange, and reconstruct so that all original Apps/Programs become available? Because I have no idea with what to do with the hundreds of files that only "open in Preview" and show it is a "unix executable" file containing thousands of bytes of information??

In reply 2 above I asked you to look inside certain folders and see what's there.
Open the "archives" folder, take a screenshot and post it here.

Personal files....photos, documents, etc etc....I'm just looking to retrieve as much lost data as possible!
You're just going to have to "work your way downwards in the folder hierarchy" for EACH AND EVERY FOLDER that might contain something of value.
And then, see "what's in there".
For example, in the "Video" folder, what's inside the folder named "mp4"?
I would think there MIGHT be videos in there.
They may no longer have recognizable names, only "ID numbers".
YOU are going to have to check each and every item, open it, see what it is, rename it, relocate it.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, you may need to get the help of someone savvy in such things.
BUT... be prepared to pay A LOT OF MONEY for such services.

WHY do you want to "get stuff back" from this drive?
You said your kids gave this to you?
My recommendation:
Unless there is data on the drive that is WORTH MONEY TO YOU, don't bother with it.
Wipe it, forget about the drive, and "start over".

i hear ya buddy....its not that i MUST get the photos, notes, etc back....its more of "i'd like to make the best effort possible to retrieve them." besides, its more like a hobby....instead of bugging out staring at the stupid TV for hours, i figure ill make an effort to figure out hard drive recovery.
ill do as you and most others would suggest....slowly but surely, one file at a time, ill just piece the salvaged folders back together.
