Diskwarrior question/help

Hello-

Ran into some serious problems on my iMac recently- in short, my hard drive is fried, gone forever. Not really operating and not being recognized by the system. When this went down I ran TechTool from the startup disk with no luck, and then went out and bought a copy of Diskwarrior to at least try to salvage my data.

Here's my question- Diskwarrior has been running (rebuilding directories), but incredibly slow- after 24 hours, the progress bar isn't even at the halfway mark. It's not frozen, but moving barely incrementally. Has anyone had a similar experience where the program would take this long to run? Seems a bit crazy that it would go so long. Also, if this doesn't work, has anyone had any luck just retriving data from a dead hard drive using diskwarrior in a similar situation?

Remember that DiskWarrior does not do data recovery, it is a one-trick pony and rebuilds damaged volume catalogs.

If you are running DiskWarrior 3 (under OS9) against an OSX hard drive, it will work but it will be incredibly slow and you will have 10's of thousands of "fixes" in the report.

If the hard drive is mechanically unsound, Diskwarrior will probably fail. DataRescueX is the usual data recovery software.
