Display Imac on Tv

I am wondering if it is possible to dispay my Imac screen on a HDTV that i have through firewire? The HDTV does have a firewire port on it.
if not, how could i go about doing this?
i am sort of lost when it comes to stuff like this.

Your iMac does not know how to display anything over FireWire. You need to hook up to the external display port on the iMac instead.

Exactly which iMac do you have and what sort of inputs does your TV accept?

i have the Imac G5 2.0ghz.
My tv can take svideo, rca(red, yellow, white),and firewire.

You should be able to use the Mini-VGA > S-Video connector.

Not sure whether the Screen Spannning Hack would allow you to adjust the resolution of the second screen.

I already told you it wasn't! It's not connected to the graphics chip. You'd need some really fancy drivers and it would slow your Mac down to a crawl. Do the search I suggested, buy the mini-VGA output convertor, connect via SVideo and by happy!

it was more of a conclusion to the thread/final answer to my question...instead of a realization that it was not possible.

thanks, i don't think i'll waste twenty bucks on it..its not THAT important.
