I’ve got a couple of email aliases set up on my main iCloud account. Within iCloud mail settings on the web, it allows you to specify your name and the actual alias address eg: ‘Dave’ then ‘Davesmith@icloud.com’
My question is this. When I send an email from the stock mail app, it seems to show the recipient ‘Dave’ rather than the full address. Great.
Is this because it’s picking up the ‘Dave’ name when going via the outgoing mail server?
I’m considering using a third party mail app that doesn’t allow me to specify the display name ‘Dave’ in settings but I’m wondering whether the setup in iCloud will take care of that. I did test it and it DIDNT work, so I'm unsure if this is a limitation of iCloud or the third party app (it's Canary, so I sense the latter)
Hopefully that makes sense!
