Display problem on 24" 2.8

I was editing a photo in Photoshop 7 when the screen of my 24" 2.8 turned into what looked like a Windoz 3.1 screen with a dithered, pixelated 256 color GIF pallete. I did a Grab of the screen then opened the display preferences panel and tried different resolutions and profiles; no change.

I closed and restarted and it returned to normal. When I opened the Grab I did it too looked normal. So something in the driver / processor for the screen must be buggy. If it happens again I'll take a shot with my camera.

I checked the temps with temp monitor and the highest for the graphics processor were below 140 F which is about where they have been. The power supply sensor has been running around 158 F.

Also video related I encounter stutter / strobing if a image in Canon Digital Photo Professional when dragging it within the edit window at 200%

How does one go about reporting a problem like this to Apple?

Another screen problem...

I have a new 2.8MHz 24" iMac w. 2 GB RAM. Last night I was trying to create a disk image in iDVD for a slide show containing 8 albums which filled the DVD (it took over an hour to rip and burn). The photos were set to have a fade to black transisition.

About 90% if the way through the screen got FUBAR'ed again. The wallpaper on the desktop froze between transitions and while I could move application windows and access the main menu the pull-downs where the same pixelated gibberish I encounted before. This time I captured it with my camera, but don't have the files now to post.

iDVD finally finished creating the disk image. I reset the screen saver via the preferences and the seemed to clear the desktop but when I tried to open the DVD disk image and play it there was total gibberish in the playback.

I exited, rebooted, and everything reverted to normal. I again opened the DVD image. It started normally and some of the 8 albums looked OK but others got pixelated during the transition between photos.

I really don't understand the cause and effect here, whether some bug in iDVD caused the desktop to freeze and pixelate, or some video hardware flaw caused both the desktop problem and the problem with the transitions which got burning into the disk image...

Temps were in the 140s F except for power supply which was about 165 F

Any clues or suggestions?

Have you downloaded all of the updates from the software update thing? That's probably not the cause, but it'd still be good to get all of the most recent updates.

Yes. That was the first thing I did after setting it up. Downloading iTunes 7.4 as I write this..
