Display problem

Hey,

I recently bought (my first) macbook, but after a few days the display colors changed all of a sudden. As far as I can remember, I havent installed any software of changed the display settings. The problem looks quite simular to problem, but the "option + command + P + R" sollution didn't do the trick. It resets (aparently) but

The display settings are 'millions' of color and 1280x800. Changing it back and forth didn't work as well. I'm quite sure it's an setting error, since the bootlogo and the login screen are display like they supposed to. After logging on the screen shows its normal color for about 2 seconds and then the screen changes [url=http://img168.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=93547_display_troubles_122_223lo.jpg]to this....

I've created a second account and, as expected, the colors are as they should be. The only program which I installed that same day is Office for mac, but uninstalling it didnt do the trick (obviously).

Anyone who can help me out here? I'm new to apple so my normal windows 'skills' can't help me here ;p

For those who ran into the same problem, here's a thing that might work.

I moved all files via the terminal from Library/Preferences to a backup dir and logged out. After logging in, the settings were restored to default, and the screen is showing its normal settings again.

Now I'm going to replace the original files with my old ones, and hopefully I'll find out where it went wrong.

You haven't just messed with the colour calibration by mistake have you?

Go to System Preferences -> Display -> Colour and tell us what profile is selected. It should be Colour LCD.

Could it have been a "ctrl+option+command+8" problem? It switches the screen to be white on black and the options are found in - system preferences --> Universal access

Nope, I havent changed any settings while this happened. But I have tried all color settings but nothing worked. After I moved all files from Library/Preferences, the default settings were automatically rebuild after a reboot. This finally worked

Do you still have the copies that you moved? Maybe he is still interested in seeing them.

I had this same problem after my wife played ToonTown on my Macbook. After the game exited, it apparently screwed with the contrast or something. I tried zapping the PRAM but I ultimately had to remove my ~/Library/Preferences.
