I have a 2017 iMac. I just updated to High Sierra. Since the update, I have noticed that when I wake up my display it first goes from black to dim to normal brightness. Before, it always went from black to normal brightness. Anyone else seeing this? Anything to worry about?

Just curious, do you have Auto Brightness turned on? I would try playing around with that and see what happens, such as turn it off or on and see how it affects sleep/wake, or keep it off and drag the slider to a different level and try sleep/wake again, etc. Try various combinations and see what happens when you wake up your iMac.

I will give that a try. The auto brightness was turned on. I have turned it off to see if that makes a difference. Thanks.

It happens to me too. It happens when waking and when locking the screen. Auto brightness is off.

I just presumed it's Apple's new style. iOS screen waking looks more gradual now than in iOS 10. Although the change is much more smooth on iOS. On my iMac, the brightness pauses mid-level for a bit and is just a bit strange.

Yeah turning off the auto bright made no difference...
Sounds like yours is doing the same thing CPx, so I will just hope it is normal. It is a feature and not a bug...
