Hi Folks,

So I just switched my pair of Benq 1920x1200 displays (SW240) over from DVI (having not realised it was limiting to 8 bit colour) to Displayport, and they're now reporting a refresh rate of "59.88 Hertz (NTSC)", vs the previous 60Hz on DVI.

Instinctively seeing NTSC makes me think "oh god, my colours will be garbage" but SwitchResX is able to set them to Billions of Colours (it's also reporting them as NTSC 60Hz).

Is this just a quirk of the difference between DP and DVI, or is there something I should be looking to solve, before I start calibrating?

MacOS is actually recognizing your display as a TV. Most things should work fine, but other things may not (Night Shift, for example, which although unsupported on the cMP, is unlockable). If you want to fix this quirk, you can use a script to override your display's EDID.

yeah, I was wondering abut that, but I'm not seeing anything funky with the colour, as compared to when it was connected over DVI & not reporting as NTSC. System information -> Graphics / Displays is also not mentioning them as being TVs.

I can't find anyone describing a simple method to find out what colour format the machine is actually outputting in, unless I'm misreading something.
