About a year ago, I convinced my mom to replace her old Flat Screen iMac G4 for a Mac Mini. We decided to buy a 23" HANNSpree LCD display, connected via Mini DisplayPort to VGA.
Since then, my mom has often experienced the same issue: It is often unresponsive to waking from sleep, and sometimes it takes *ages* to come back to life, especially after the computer has fallen asleep for a long time (overnight).
Sometimes, though I know the mini is awake, the display says that it cannot detect a signal coming from the mini.
I think that it's some sort of signal issue. Either the Mac Mini isn't properly sending the right signal to tell the monitor that it's actually connected to something live, or the monitor itself isn't capable of receiving the wakeup queue from the computer. I would assume that both of these could be due to a wrong Hz setting, or for the fact that VGA is somehow inferior in quality, since it's an analog signal, as opposed to a digital signal.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Anyone with the same display? Suggestions on how to fix it?
