I bought the 21,5" iMac last week and my friend a 27". When we where playing together, I noticed the 27" display is much sharper. Even my girlfriend could see this within one guess. It could be a psychic thing, but every time I am behind my 21,5" I see a screen with could be sharper. Even my Macbook 13" is sharper in my opinion. Do the 21,5"/27"screens come out of the same manufacturer with the same specs or is there a quality-difference??

Both are IPS panels so basically quality should be the same  If you want it to be sharper you would need more pixels but 21.5" already has resolution of 1920x1080 which is quite good

The 27" has a slightly higher pixel density by approximately 7 ppi which means it slightly sharper than the 21.5".

In terms of screen size to number of pixels ratio, 27" is relatively higher than 21.5"
21.5" still has very good hd resolution so you should'nt worry :)
