For the past few months, I have been unable to connect to steam from my Mac Mini desktop. I had tried connecting directly to my modem, bypassing the router entirely, and still could not connect.
Subsequently, I got a new MBP, which is able to connect wirelessly in my house. So I'm pretty sure the problem isn't network/router/port forwarding related.
I looked through the suggested list of programs that Steam suggests could be interfering. I disabled them at startup (Transmission, Splashtop streamer, Air Video Server). No help. I even started up the Mini in safe mode (held down shift at bootup), which I thought would disable all added software other than the OS. Still unable to connect.
Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
UPDATE - I reinstalled Steam (which I have done a few times before, I promise!) and now it works.
