macOS Distributed notifications from iTunes

Does anybody know where I can find documentation covering the distributed notifications posted by iTunes? I can't find details of this anywhere, but I gather that iTunes does indeed post distributed notifications.

As a more general point -- is there any way of finding out what distributed notifications are posted by an application if documentation isn't available?
