I realize most people are trying to get rid of their Fusion Drives, but I'm looking for feedback on building a DIY Fusion Drive for a 2015 5k iMac.

Currently, the iMac has the Apple OEM 1TB Fusion Drive and I'd like to open it up and add a Samsung 970 EVO Plus m.2 SSD and a 4TB HDD.

Has anyone here done this type of upgrade on a 2015 5K iMac?

What SSD & HDD solution did you go with?

For the money you would be far better off with a large SSD and if you really need extra storage put that on a HDD.

I have the 2015 5K, and like many others, the spinner in my 1TB Fusion Drive took a dirt nap. I replaced it with a Silicon Power 1TB SATA SSD and recreated the fusion drive. It is night/day faster than what was there, but the Apple 128GB SSD is losing its hair as well over time. DriveDX reports the lifetime indicator is now at 65%, and seems to be dropping more rapidly as time goes on. I'll likely consider upgrading to something similar as you've suggested.
