So I've been using a square piece of mdf as my monitor stand for quite a while and after seeing a site where the dude integrated an ipod dock for his nano into his desk, I decided to finally do the same for my monitor stand (and to clean it up).
The original monitor stand in its old environment:
Now, for the new and improved monitor stand with ipod dock.
I wanted to cut down the harsh squared off-ness of the original stand, so I rounded it off and painted it black (also had to move the hole for the peg that holds it up):
In-progress pic of the ipod dock location:
Final product in all it's ipod'd and murdered out glory:
My work laptop still slides underneath without issue, of course since I can't round it off to the same curve as the stand, it does jut out of the side that used to be squared off (if that makes sense).
It was a fun and quick 2 hour project (most of it was sanding/painting). Would have gone a lot faster if it woulda been a bit warmer, but I'll take it.
Anyway, I'd be happy to answer any questions or comments if you have 'em.
Enjoy!
