I just wanted to post to say my iMac burned the first DL DVD+R disk that was recognized by our tabletop DVD player; I am stunned (in a good way):D

I burned it in Win XP, using Nero 6; in the past, on my desktop pc, using the same software, all I produced were coasters that wouldn't play, even after changing DVD burners.

I am interested to try burning one in OS X, using Toast, to see if my good fortune continues.....:apple:

Yea, well ALL of my Memorex DVD+R DL discs can NOT be read by my iMac. I had thousands of pictures on several DL discs and the iMac spits them all out.

I guess it is true to say that the memorex DL discs are crap.

I am going to Walmart today to get some Verbatim and try those.

If so, I am going to have to transfer them from a Memorex DVD to a Verbatim.

You're surprised that it worked? It's supposed to work.

LOL! Note that I am coming from PC world....

I cannot burn a single layer DVD+R on my HP laptop without having it skip in the tabletop DVD player  HP says it is the media/program/blah-blah-blah I am using even though using the same media/program on another computer (my old desktop or new iMac) produces a disk that plays fine

The PC that produced good single layer DVDs would not produce a DL DVD that would play in my player..... I never understood it but, at the cost of the DL disks, I didn't want to try a bunch of different brands. Now, I have an iMac that burns single AND DL DVDs that play in my tabletop player, life is good....

I didn't want to comment yesterday, until I had a chance to check at home but the DL DVD+R disk that worked so well (for me) was Memorex; I do recall having an issue (with a pc) in the past where a single layer DVD of pictures created by one pc was not read by another pc. Wonder if it's more a function of that, in your case, than the brand of disk?

I'm assuming (will need to check) that the Memorex DVD created by XP in the iMac will actually be recognized by OS X.
