I recently purchased a new cable modem, a Dlink DCM-202. It's been working great until last night. Suddenly the ethernet light dropped. I have the Dlink connected to my Wireless Motorola router.
I tried connecting the Dlink directly to my mini, and after a reset holds the connection for 5 minutes, and then the ethernet light on the modem either goes dead or it stays a solid green (it usually blinks during use). At that point the connection is dropped, even though the mini still reports it as having an active IP.
I've contacted my ISP, Charter, and they say there's nothing wrong on their end and that I should contact Dlink support. So far Dlink support has treated me like an idiot and I've done everything they've asked time and time again and it just hasn't worked. I've been up all night trying to get it to work, but no dice.
Anyone else have problems with Dlink modems? What course of action is best? Should I just buy a different brand? I never had this problem a couple years ago with my Motorola modem (should have kept it...).
