Hey there. So I have a MacBook Pro with the M1 pro chip. I'm on Sequoia, and I have Spectrum Wifi.

For the life of me, I can't get any DLNA (Kodi, Plex, and several others I've tried) to work and be recognized on the network. Am I missing some setting on my computer? On my router?

Sequoia introduce Private IP Address feature. Verify it turned off. Also, try turn off firewall.

You haven't been very specific about your systems. What are you trying to run the servers on? System and version? What are you trying to access them with? System and version? Roku? Windows? Mac? What's the router type and version?

Be specific with everything. Without more detail it's nearly impossible to troubleshoot. There's no such thing as too much detail. 😉

First post has most. But..
Running MacBook Pro (2021) with M1 Pro Chip. Running on the latest (and updated) Sequoia OS.
I have tried Plex, Kodi, and now Emby. All the latest public builds. (not all installs at the same time to avoid any conflics).
I am trying to access them with primarily Roku (a Roku Ultra and Roku Streambar SE using the "Media Player) and my Quest 3 headset (apps like BigScreen, DEOvr)
Cable co is Spectrum. Router is the SAX1V1S

Do you have a dedicated folder structure for your media files? Are they properly shared in Mac Preferences? Is File Sharing turned on? Are the folders added and set up within the server consoles?

Start by picking one server software you'd prefer to use. If none of them have been showing up it's likely there is one or more steps you're missing in all. Pick one software and let me know what it is. I'll install the same on mine if it's compatible and we can walk through it together. Keep in mind I'm using a pretty old Mac so some of the settings may be located differently from mine but they should all be basically the same settings. If you can get even one to show up on the Roku the rest should work as well unless some are just incompatible with Roku.

Ok - So I set file sharing on and also sharing for the download folder (this is the folder I've pointed all the apps to previously.. but I did not have sharing on.

I am happy to try Kodi, Emby or Plex. Whatever is easiest for you.

I will say that I have now tried all three on my own and some odd results.
1. Neither of my Roku's can see the server
2. My Samsung TV (older) natively can see the computer/folder and I can stream.
3. VLC on my phone can now see (since turning sharing on) my MacBook (2 entries). One is Generic MacBookPro - and when I click on that in VLC, it's asking me to long in (Authentication Required). The other entry is my name + MacBook and when I click on that it says This Directory is Empty

p.s. THANK YOU!

Sorry, for some reason I wasn't notified of your reply and had to search for it today. I'll gry Plex for now since I'm pretty cure it's compatible with Roku and get back to you as soon as I can.

EDIT: Actually I may have a better idea. Sent you a DM.
