Hi, I'm still new to macs... and I was wondering if *.DMG and *.toast files have resource forks. Most importantly I need to know since I downloaded both file formats on my PC and I was wondering if they would be corrupt if I transfered them to a mac that I'm buying. Thanks in advance :)

OS 10.2... well, hopefully 10.3 by the time I get it ;)

So I guess they don't have resource forks and can even be transfered via FTP then?

Correct.
I'll give you an example. I use SFTP to copy files from my machine @ home to my office G4. As only the Data Fork gets copied, I use extensions (yup, like Windows... ) to recognize the type of file.
OS X uses these extensions, Apple even recommends using them....
