I am setting up Yosemite Server on a new Mac Mini and I am new to it. Everything seems to work right with one exception...

Problem: I can get to every website through a browser except my own.

Background: Our actual website is hosted by BlueHost and is http://www.mycompany.com (changed the name for security reasons.) The host name I chose for the Server is my1.mycompany.com and I have all the DNS working properly doing that, except it won't find http://www.mycompany.com. If I switch to LTE (on my iPhone), I can get to my website, but not when I am going through our network. I am wondering if maybe I'm not understanding something and that I can't use the same domain name for my Server Host. All the DNS works properly otherwise. Am I completely misunderstanding how this works? Can I have http://www.mycompany.com be on BlueHost and me use my1.mycompany.com for the Server or does it have to be a completely different domain name?

If I can use the same domain name, just a different prefix, is there something else I might be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie...

You may try adding the IP of the website and the URL in the hosts file on your machine.

Let me understand this properly...

When you're in the local network:
You cannot access http://www.mycompany.com
You can access my1.mycompany.com

When you're using LTE:
You can access http://www.mycompany.com
You can access my1.mycompany.com

If this is the issue, I believe the server is thinking that http://www.mycompany.com is hosted locally.

To confirm this, what happens if you do a ping test to http://www.mycompany.com from the server terminal app? Are you getting the IP address of the bluehost server or your local server IP?

When I ping http://www.mycompany.com I get cannot resolve, unknown host.
When I ping my1.mycompany.com I get a successful ping.

When I enter my1.mycompany.com into the browser, it cannot find it, I discovered. But, it does ping accurately.

I added it as a host and that seems to have done the trick! Thank you very much!
