Do Airpods work with foam covers?

Hi,

I prefer using headphones each with a little black foam cover to block some outside noise, get a better fit, and hear more bass. Has anyone tried the airpods with the foam covers? Do the foam covers interfere with the sensors that detect whether or not you are wearing the airpods?

I read another thread that said the foam covers do not interfere with the proximity sensors and the case closes fine with the pods wearing the foam covers. If I find it I'll include the link.
 
After trying this myself, I disagree with the post I linked too.

In my experience with the foam tips on my AirPods I experienced multiple issues with pausing as if they were removed from my ear.

I do not recommend it personally.
 
Just got mine 2 days ago, and put the foam covers. Unfortunately, the feature that pauses the music when you take one off doesn't work with the covers on. The AirPods are lose in my ear without them, so I have to decide how I want to live with it... or return it.

I used earskinz and yes they interfere.
 
I'm liking the foam covers very much after a day. Sound is better. No need to EQ like before the covers. So far the covers have been positioned so that the sensors aren't covered. After several times of being taken out one became covered. I don't like the Siri double tap feature so I use the double tap for play/pause. That eliminates the need for me to remove one for a pause.
 
Thinking about ordering some foam covers. Found some white "donut" ones on Amazon that might work well and be less likely to cover the sensors. You guys still having luck with them staying put in your ears with the foam?

When I first put them in they stay there for 20-30 minutes and after my ears get a little moist inside from wearing them longer I have to push them back in every five minutes and it's really annoying. I love them otherwise but want to wear them when I'm walking about and don't want to buy something I have to constantly remove and store somewhere.
 
I will continue to monitor this thread, the airpods with no isolation is a no go.

Hopefully there will be more feedback with regards to that, I do not care about fitting in the case or using Siri or pausing while removing on. I want some isolation is all and I am not about to cranking the volume to do so.

I cared before about having to remove them to put the airpods in the case. Not now, I just want isolation while listening. I will have to try them again.

This is the solution for all ear bud foam covers to work with AirPod's sensor's. Works like a charm..

You bought the wrong earphones. The reason I bought them is because they DON'T block out the outside noise and they still sound good.

Red foam covers look pretty dope.. I mean Apple is the color red

I do not know what you are using them for per se but there really is not any truly wireless offerings at the time that are "right" as all have limitations/concessions. I tried others so I have a pretty good grip on the situation, the Airpods gave me the best choice amongst concessions.

I believe that with their material and also how tight the airpods housing is, anything that is remotely thicker than the airpods won't fit inside the case when you're trying to close them. The only thing I know that fits is foam covers, so I believe the only option that I'm aware of is to just measure and cut out a hole on foam covers and use them for the time being.

IMO it made adequate difference with noise cancellation, but more importantly, the sound quality sounds 5x better...the bass hits hard almost like Dre Beats earbuds, and sound clarity is enhanced and cancels out the high pitch noises/static you encounter when turning volume to max.. Definitely, a must get accessory granted you'll never need to remove the foam cover tips since the charger case fits with foam covers

It's a bit tight when closing, but they do shut completely.

OK, thanks. Are you utilizing the same black ones linked to Amazon in this thread for around $5?
 
From my personal experience I suggest you not to use this one. You will face many issues when you will start using it.

Yes, the foam covers d interfere with sensors. See the video below on how to address the issue.

I have to say these are the bee's knees. I ordered them, got them and love them. I loved them so much I ordered a second set to keep as a backup (yes I know that is a LOT of them).

I can confirm that the lid does close, it is a little more difficult to close, but it closes (You do not have to force it to the point it will do damage).

No fuss, put it on, it stays further in my ear, and doesn't slide out at all (normally it slides a little loose, but doesn't ever fall out).
