I just ordered a MBP with the 2.16 Core Duo and 7200RPM 100GB drive. I've noticed quite a few posts lately about the MBPs having problems with battery life, noise, and heat. I really never considered battery life as a deciding factor in my purchase. I'll always have a place to plug in. I'm concerned more about the heat and noise problems. However, most of the comments posted here are about the 1.83 and 2.0 MBPs. So here's what I'd like to from anyone with a MBP.

1. Do you have any of the aforementioned problems (heat / noise / or anything else not mentioned)?

2. What type of processor is in your notebook?

3. How quick is the hard drive?

4. Any conclusions you have about your purchase (why you like it so much :D , or what you think about the heat / noise).

Thanks in advance for any help yall can offer. I'm getting my second mac and its just as exciting as getting the first one.:)

I have a stock 1.83 MBP.

I have the buzz, the screen alignment (though I don't really see why this one's an issue), the display whine, the heat and the screen band. (And a few other non-widespread issues.)

It used to be that ALL the MBP's had at least the processor whine and most had the heat issues, but a newer revision (E maybe?) is supposed to have very little to no whine, even if you have great hearing. They're also supposed to be cooler too.

Just remember that... people focus on the negatives rather than the positives. People with negative experiences are more likely to write about it. There are many people very happy with their MBP's.

Same as yours...

I ordered a MacBook Pro with the same spec (2.16/7200) last Monday, and received it on Friday (4 days - with standard -- NO COST -- shipping). I have zero issues.:)

I bought two 'week 10' unit's.

neither have any whining or buzzing or anything like that, screen's are perfect, etc.

Both unit's get very hot, underneith and above function keys. I doubt this will ever change for any MBP.. we can live with it. i can still use it on my lap.

My unit is fine, no issues. 2.0ghz 2gig ram

My wife's unit, 1.83ghz, 1.5gig ram, has a really strange keyboard problem, after any random period of time, a pile of the keys on the keyboard just stop working. "6yhn space = /" those key's... (look at your keyboard, tell me that aint strange, a whole row!)

a reset of the PMU and PRAM usually fixes it. it stuffs up a few times a day, it's painful. we took it back to the apple shop yesterday and they couldnt replicate the problem! *DAMNIT*.. last night i got it failing again, so i put it to sleep, and will take it in to them again today. it's become a real hassle for us, and my wife is pretty upset about it, she has a lot of work to do on her new machine for uni/work, etc.
