I'm thinking of getting an iphone for this purpose (as well as replacing my 4 year old phone!) - it'd be a nice way of allways having a showreel and artwork etc with me at all times so i can show people whenever rather than keeping a tatty dvd at the bottom of my bag as i do at the moment.

anyone had any success with this method?

kind of (I haven't got an iphone) - On my wm5 pda I've got a simple gallery (which is used with s2p) and allows you to slide next etc with your finger (like the iphone).

Hardly ever use it though but will be doing the same on my phone (not an iphone either) when its upgraded shortly (current one is on its way out) as you never know when you may bump into someone.

Don't have any video's on the current phone or pda as the hardware isn't really upto the task.

IMO having your portfolio on an iphone seems a little unprofessional. I couldnt imagine going to an interview and handing them an iphone. I think now a days, most people have a website with their portfolio and still have a physical portfolio.

no i don't mean to present the iphone when attending a formal interview etc, i meant carrying it around all the time so at events or when meeting clients you can quickly show them your work and the sort of thing you do. Or keep other people's showreels and short films to show other people ideas and concepts.

Does the iphone have a video player type thing or is it mainly done through the ipod section? And the iphone can view psd files can't it?

I keep small things I'm proud of in my Picture Gallery, as well as some current projects. You can play your own videos through the iPod, but they must be in mp4 format. I haven't tried opening psd files on my iPhone, but I wouldn't think they would.

I guess if you see a client on the spot with no preparation its ok, but if you setup an appointment I think you need more than an iPhone.
