I’ve been reading and seeing that some people were saying the APP hurt their ears after wearing them for a few hours, whereas the regular AirPods you kind of forget they’re there.

Trying to replace my first gen AirPods, but undecided if I should go AirPods 2 or APP. The transparency mode an ANC are very intriguing to me but they’re not a must since I’m going to be using them mainly for phone calls and watching content or music. It will be nice to take them out in public and turn on ANC or if I wanted to block out the TV noise.

Hard decisions..

In a van down by the river
I have found that after wearing the AirPod Pros for about 2 hrs or so, that when I take them out, my ears are a little sore. It doesn't hurt to put them back in mind you. I am sure a lot of people don't have that problem. There is no real way to know until you try them

it will depend entirely on the shape of your ears, no one can answer how they'll work for you, but you.

I can't wear any airpods, as they fall right out, even with the largest tips. So I'm stuck with the power beats pro with the ear loops and the way too big case.
so if someone were to ask me how AirPods fit, I'd have a bad review, while the vast majority of people love them.

I use Comply foam tips with my Pros, mainly because they won't stay in my ears, and don't have pain. There has been no change to the design of the AirPods Pro, so if you had pain after a few hours before, then you still will.

Do they comply tips fit in the case? I don’t have any pain from APP, but I have a hard time with anything staying in my right ear

sometimes they can be a little finicky so I have to make sure that they're actually charging, but yes. (I use the large tips– the smaller ones have no issue with this.) There's some long threads here in this forum about foam tips for the Pros, so I'd look at those.

As others have said, it entirely depends on the shape of your ears, unfortunately. The regular earbuds, without the silicone, fall straight out of my ears, so I need to use the APP. But I've known people who can't use the APP, same as you've heard. I would strongly recommend going to an Apple Store and trying them out first if at all possible.

I got mine in medium, and they are great. Suddenly no problem at all with APP falling out.

Good to know. I don’t have pain with them since I’ve never owned or tried them, but I have read that various people have after a few hours or so. The tips of the APP i do fine with with regular wired headphones so I think I can fit them, it’s just a matter of comfort. Wish other stores let you try them on, as the apple store is too far away from me :(

Interesting thread..

Bought my Pros on Thursday (it's now Sunday) at an airport kiosk after security broke my regular apple lightning earbuds. Argh.

Anyway, first thing I noticed w/in 10 minutes is discomfort. Never had it with normal ear pods and I'm definitely spoiled (pro musician) as I have a couple custom sets of molded Ultimate Ears for playback and gigs.. APP are damn uncomfortable. Like I said I know I'm spoiled with the molded UEs, but I wasn't expecting ear pain.

I'd return them but they were an airport purchase and can't really get back to the store w/o a ticket. I'm going to investigate options for better ear seating.

Good to know, I was looking at the pros closely and I think it will hurt mine too as my ears are small.. the regular AirPods fit fine for me.

Think I’m going to get the AirPods 2 with wireless charging case since I know they will fit well and are comfortable, and are on sale for a pretty good price right now.

Did you think about trying the comply ear tips like a poster mentioned above? Maybe those will help.
