Hi,

I have recently taken out a trial membership of Mobile Me, and as a consequence, had to give them my bank details.

The thing is, I checked my bank account online yesterday, and there was a weird (and large) amount of money that appeared to be on hold. I called the bank and they said that it looked like there was a sum of money on hold pending a visa transaction, but they couldn't tell me who was holding the cash.

I was just wondering if it is common practice for Apple to reserve large sums of money (in this case £310) in lieu of a £58 transaction?

The only other explanation is that Luxology are reserving the money for my modo 401 upgrade - but I didn't place my pre-order yet, and they say they have no record of it either. They do have my account details though, and may have gone ahead without my order. I'm waiting to hear back, but it sounds unlikely that this is the cause.

Other than those two, I'm out of ideas!

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Cheers,

Paul

Hey Paul,

Not sure to answer your question. When I recently signed up to MobileMe's trial, I didin't notice them reserving any amount on my account.

You can always try contacting Apple directly about it if you haven't done so already.

No, I don't think so. I did the trial last year and don't recall anything at all being reserved against my credit card. If they did, it wouldn't be more than the price of the goods and certainly not 5 or so times more than the value. I would get onto your bank again. It doesn't sound right to me.
