I have the MBP model prior to the latest release, and I remember there was an issue where games like Starcraft and Diablo 2 were unable to be played. Are these games now reupdated, or do they both still not work? Thanks.
I can attest to Diablo II: LoD working on a Mac, specifically my Early 2006 MBP. It runs like a dream! No CD or anything! It downloads from the Blizzard site
The issue was that from OS X 10.5.3-10.5.4 Apple included drivers that did not support 256 colours. This broke Starcraft, Diablo, Fallout and many other games that relied on this mode. This affected all nVidia based Macs and intel GMA X3100 based Macs.
As of 10.5.5, the nVidia drivers have been updated to include 256 and now the above mentioned games work. Any Macs based on the intel GMA X3100 still cannot use 256 colours modes and have issues running games using these modes.
Blizzard has released a patch for Starcraft that removes the need to use 256 colours and it can work on any Mac with issues displaying 256 colours modes. A patch for Diablo has been rumoured to be in the works also removing the need for 256 colours.
In summary, Macbook Pros do not have issues running Blizzard games as 10.5.5 fixed the issue.
I don't think they released an update for Warcraft 2. I have the old hybrid CD which has a version that would have run on OS 7.6 I get the error about not supporting classic mode.
I'd bet the farm SC2 will work. Blizzard games rarely push the (sys req) envelope like other flashier games. I'm not worried in the least to be honest when it comes to Blizzard releases.
