Hello. I am considering to buy the iPhone 3GS. I read that iPhone 3GS users who upgraded to 3.1 have low battery life problem. How about brand new iPhone 3GS that are being sold from Apple Online Stores? Do they all come with iPhone 3.1 preinstalled? Do they have battery problem(s) as well?

Could anybody who bought the iPhone 3GS (with 3.1 pre-installed) let us know if it also has problems (such as low battery life) experienced by those who updated to 3.1 from previous versions? Thanks.

had one since june 17th

so I have had 3.0 3.0.1 and now 3.1 and was JB on 3.0 and 3.0.1 I have had very good battery life all along! :D I have worked 14 hour days using phone and internet on and off listing to music etc. and rarely seen it go below 50% that works for me.

Just got my 32GB 3Gs with 3.0.1 on it...I'll post back whenever I use it for awhile...I'm literally just syncing my apps just now.

I upgrade 6 devices to 3.1 and don't have "low battery life problem" on any of them. I have hear of inaccurate battery meters on 3.1 but that doesn't effect how long a charge will last. If you assume that there is a fault in 3.1 that causes batteries to drain quicker of course phone with it pre-installed will suffer from it too. And if you assume there is a problem it's not like Apple isn't going to fix it in the next firmware.

i'm on 3.0.1 on a 3GS, but my battery life is not that good

it drops around 20% in about 30 to 45 minutes when i'm using it. last night i went to sleep and the phone was fully charged, i woke up this morning and it was at 85%. is it normal?

it's my first iPhone so don't know how's the battery life on them
i have to keep it charging constantly

Turn off "Fetch"

This is my experience, at first the battery life seems week , then after about 1 month it seems like the phone "learns" its own capacity.
Still after that I would recommend getting one of the Push Mail Apps and turning off "fetch" all together. After I got "G-Push" (for gMail only) my battery lasts sometimes for two days without needing a good charge.

For the MBPs, whenever there is an upgrade to the OS, some users have problems while others don't. It seems to depend on whether they upgraded from previous versions or simply installed the new version fresh. It seems to also depend on the type of incremental upgrade options they chose. I want to know if this applies to the iPhone as well.

If those who bought the iPhone recently (with 3.1 pre-installed) do not have the various problems mentioned in macrumors, I just try to get one with 3.1 out of the box.

And oh there are a lot of people who don't have problems. It seems like a lot of people have problems, but remember that people without problems aren't going to shout "I'M NOT HAVING PROBLEMS!! WTF?!"

I found I get much better battery life with wifi turned off, seems to almost double it.

I have decent 3G signal at home so I just leave wifi turned off all the time now.

im, sure some off you have heard before.

prolong battery life
put the IPHONE CHARGING and put the GLOW/BRIGHT in MAX and turn AUTO off

when end charging put the bright in half or less than half and you see the big diference.

Why would I if my screen is turned off (in stand-by mode)?
