As a developer, do you all still end up buying the os when it's released? Once release will the gm copy get all the normal updates? Debating on getting a dev acct bc I don't want to wait any longer to toy around with lion

But the GM will get all the normal updates. I'm not a developer but I do have another Mac that was recently purchased so I'm entitled to a free copy of ML. But, like you, I couldn't wait for the release any longer because I knew everything I did to customize my MBP would go to waste since I'd do a clean install.

In my MAS purchases, it says I bought "OS X Lion" even though when I downloaded it first, it was labeled the GM seed. The store treats it as the same "app" so you don't have to / can't buy it upon release. The buy button on the Mountain Lion product page will say 'Installed' or 'Download' if you've already downloaded the final GM seed.

GM is exactly the same as the Final release (unless they find a major flaw at the last minute).
