Quite surprised they don't have this option for android or samsung devices?

wonder if they have a deal with apple or something. Was hoping to see this option for the note 8 but sadly not as my brother got the iphone upgrade 12 months deal but wanted to upgrade to the note 8

Are you talking about carrier upgrade or Apple upgrade program?

I won't think it's a deal between EE & Apple but iPhones hold better value than any Android phones. Probably because of that.

Is there any specific benefit of the EE program over the Apple program?

With EE you get both the handset and the plan - I pay for example, £65 per month for the plan and phone which gives me 40GB of data. You can also get other flagship phones, not just the iPhone. However, they do some fantastic discounts and I actually pay £32pm for the plan and phone.

I've stopped getting phones on contract since the iPhone 4 days, ultimately the deals are not really worth to sign a contract with a company I feel. But this time around I might have a look.

Isn't it better to go in the upgrade program with Samsung which is like £32 a month and then go on a sim only?

How did you get that discount?? That's amazing
I think it works out cheaper to go on a sim only and then get the phone through the upgrade plan from Samsung or Apple?

I’m a legacy customer 10 years plus and have built them up for many years - they simply allow me to carry the discounts over year on year. I’m on a £67pm tariff discounted down to £32pm for 40Gb of data and the upgrade programme. There was no upfront fee for the S8.

Wow that's an amazing deal
I guess the good thing about the EE upgrade deal is that you can pick a different phone rather than sticking to iPhones and samsungs

Just checked EE site and the option to have an upgrade every 12 months is now available

40GB of data

£9.99 upfront cost

Unlimited mins and texts

BT sport app free for 24 months

Plus the dex free

£72.99 per month

60GB of data

£29.99 upfront

Unlimited mins and texts

dex free

£72.99 per month

So if you pay £20 more upfront you get 60GB of data instead of 40GB? Why would you choose the 40GB option.

£72.99 a month seems absolutely extortionate.
But when you half it, it's like £36-£37 which is completely acceptable if it were 24 months. Also, 40 / 60gb of data is sweet. It's just a big ol' amount a month but even £72.99 x 12 probably comes in under the sim free value!

So actually is pretty decent unless I'm missing something. :)

I think it's fine really when you consider you can get a new phone every year. If it was 24 months then yeah paying out £72 a month is alot but you don't need to worry about mins, texts or data ever plus get a new device each year.

For me thats big as i don't want to be needing to sort out the funds to buy phones every year.

Yeah completely agree.
If I could last with one phone for a year I'd look into it but... :p

That's a horrific deal
If you go on the Samsung upgrade plan you pay like £32 for the S8 and then going on a sim only with three or Vodafone for like £20 a month means everything will come up to £52...which is cheaper than the £72.99 that EE are charging

I don't see how that's a decent deal
Even 02 is cheaper I think with their refesh plans....in 12 months time just sell the phone and then get a new phone.

guess it depends how much data you need and how many mins you need. if you use alot of data then it's not enough. least with 40-60GB data is not a problem

I'm talking about the deal
With 3 you can go on their unlimited plan and get unlimited data and it still works out cheaper than EE
Samsung upgrade plan for £33 plus unlimited with three for £25 and it's still cheaper than EE
I don't understand how anyone can see paying £72.99 a month as a good deal....

It ain't me buying it. But I'm saying from a network perspective it's not a bad deal. SIM only deals also probably won't be coming with 60 GB for £20. Unlikely anyway.
I'm happy with my bog standard two year tariff.

but we aren't talking about the S8 here. We are talking about a phone that costs £200 more than the S8.

For the note 8 it's cheaper doing it via samsung but still not a big difference price wise going sim only.

Yep what I meant is that it's cheaper joining the Samsung upgrade and going on a sim only than it is going through EE.
£72.99 is way too expansive and you can save about £10 a month with the Samsung plan

That's true just seems so expensive
I think the Samsung upgrade plan and three sim only is the way to go
I must say though that the advantage with EE's is that you can change phones. With the Samsung plan you have to stick with Samsung and can't change to an iPhone if you feel fit to.

Do you not have to give the phone back to Samsung like the Apple upgrade program or am I making up that you even have to do that? Is it like a lease like Apples upgrade program or do you own it after twelve months? And is EE like that too?

I'd guess EE isn't like that, for that price.

Have you read it lol?

With all of them you have to give the phone back in order to get an upgrade....if not how will the companies be making their money?

No I haven't read it I have zero interest in any Samsung device or in the tariffs. I merely chimed in to say that the deal seemed decent for 12 months as I'm interested in these things with working at carphone warehouse up until May. Wish I never bothered commenting! :p
