Just curious..I don't think so, but I'd like to know for sure. Does MB or MBP have a DVD burner?

Super Drive = DVD+/-RW Dual Layer
Combo Drive = DVD-R/CD-RW

All of the laptops except for the base macbook have a Super Drive.

no bad vibes bt whatever happened to apple using the same labels for disk burners as everyone else.

Considering that those are pretty standard references by now, since they were one of the first manufacturers to include DVD burning drives with computers (and that the terms are EXPLAINED on the store pages)... there's still no excuse.

you mean like: "Lightscribe DVD SuperMulti Drive / CD Writer" ?

ha, I admire Apple for being consistent with their branding/naming. Nothing pisses me off like: "XBRITE / ULTRABRIGHT / ULTRABRITE / TRUBRITE / TRUEBRIGHT / CLEARBRITE" and other names PC manufactures use to refer to freaking Glossy screens >.>

Exactly..thank you sir!

It is absolutely absurd that the base model has no DVD burner. I got the mid-range model simply because I didn't want to be stuck in a situation in which I needed to burn a DVD and not be able to.

I will seriously maybe ever burn two DVD's with this thing.

Not that absurd. Its to save costs, and it does. some people will use and external burner and it will burn faster than the slim ones. i use an external also. my gf's ibook doesnt have a dvd burner, she's never really burned anything. so there are people out there who dont need it. as long as they can watch a dvd they are happy.

is two DVDs over the course of a few years really going to be worth the extra money? It'd be cheaper and more useful to buy a 4GB memory stick. That'd get used more than twice.
