I brought the Apple wired headphones from John Lewis online - a UK retailer - both the lightning and USB-C versions as they had a 25% discount and I wanted a backup pair incase my wireless AirPods got lost or stop working.

The USBC headphones have a box with the date 8/2023 on it - so obviously new as apple have only just released it.

The Lightning version came in a box 25% thicker and had a date of 2019 on the box. 2019 would explain the bigger packaging. So it's fair to assume it was manufactured in 2019 / 4 years ago.

My question is have Apple improved the WIRED headphones since 2019? If so I'll return the 2019 version and buy it from Apple.

Update.

I missed that the lightning box does have a date of 6/2023 so it's not 4 years old stock. But the box is bigger than the USBC version - maybe apple just haven't revised the packaging on it to be more eco?
